  Poser 5 Image Maps
Introduction the the Material Room



Compared to Poser 4 the process for applying a texture is far more complex in Poser 5. This is a click by click tutorial to apply an image map to an object.

The skill lever on this tutorial is beginner. This will help you load your first texture in Poser 5.


Requirements...
  • Poser 5
  • An object you want to apply a texture to.
  • The texture for that object
Load your object...
  • Start a blank scene in Poser Load your figure(s) and pose them.
  • Switch to the material room
Tip: Ctrl + U is the "hot key" to open the material room
Create an image node...
  1. Pick the eye dropper tool.
  2. Click the material you want to apply the map to.
  3. Click the plug (Root node) for diffuse color.
  4. Select "New Node".
  5. Then 2D Texture.
  6. Finally click "Image Map".
Step 1
Tip: You can also choose the material from the drop down list at the top of the Shader Window
Load your texture...
  1. Click on "None" by image source.
  2. Click "Browse".
  3. Find your texture and select it.
  4. Click "Open" on the image browser.
  5. Click "OK" on the Choose Texture box.
Step 2
  • Be sure the diffuse color is solid white.
  • The diffuse value should be 1.00
  • The rest of the colors should be solid black
  • The other parameters should be 0.00
Tip: You can copy and paste nodes with a right click of the mouse.
Render Settings...
Render
Tip: If you use the P4 Renderer be sure to put a check on "Use Texture Maps"
FAQ...
  • I can't see my texture until I render the scene.
    • You can only see the textures in "Texture Shaded " view. Press Ctrl + 9 for this mode.
  • The colors are off in my texture.
    • The texture colors are effected by the color of the lights in your scene. Use white lights for better texture colors.
    • Object colors effect the texture color. Be sure the diffuse color is solid white.
