Back in the early days of Poser 4 I converted a prop made by Paul Hafeli into a conforming figure. That was the Chain Mesh Bra. Poser hasn't been the same since. For some time people have been requesting chain mesh for Victoria.
It's finally here.
It took over a year of tinkering with meshes and finding ways to produce the effect I wanted to give you. The result is a clothing collection that produces effect you simply can't get any where else in Poser land.
The first thing you're going to ask is, "where is the mesh cat suit?" There isn't one because the polygon count would have been astronomical. You see, these aren't transparency maps thrown on standard clothing items. They are new, and very special, very complex models. The highly detailed mesh has a feature called Parallax Highlights.

Para-What n' Who!
Parallax Highlights. OK, its a big name, but it's really
cool. Look at the mesh detail. All of the figures in the collection have
separate materials for the "Face", "Edge" and "Holes" in the mesh.
Because the face and edge can be assigned different colors
you can create wild highlight effects within the Mesh and without applying a
texture map.
Parts of the mesh that are seen straight on will show one
color. Parts that are angled to the the camera will show a different color. If
you've ever seen a car with a pearlescent paint job, it's the same idea. Light
that hits from different angles is reflected with different colors. |

Close up of the basic mesh.
This Illustrates how the Parallax Highlights work. Facets that are at different
angles to the camera show different colors. |
Usually the
holes are set transparent, but you can use transparency maps to stylishly add
some holes back in. Most of the meshes also feature separate texture groups for
areas in the "Holes" to cover Breast and Panty areas.

par·al·lax
'par-a-laks Noun: The apparent displacement or the difference in apparent
direction of an object as seen from two different points not on a straight line
with the object |
The Corset
and Teddy also have lace trim along the top and bottom edge. These have
separate Face, Edge and Hole groups so they can produce a different effect than
the main mesh or be hidden entirely.

SuperConforming If
you've bought Nerd Stuff before you probably already know what SuperConforming
is. But, this has a new twist. SuperConforming allows the morphs in the
clothing item to automatically match the morphs in the target figure. Old super
conforming figures didn't like being loaded into a scene that was empty. They
would cause Poser to freeze. The Chayne Lynx items use a new twist in super
conforming. The only morphs that SuperConform are the full body morphs. The
FBM's from the Clothes lock onto the FBM's of the figure and once conformed
they work together. When it's setup this way the clothing won't cause Poser to
freeze if it is loaded in an empty scene.
Detail Because
this mesh is so highly detailed it doesn't really need much texturing. The mesh
does all the work. The Chayne models have very high polygon counts, it's well
worth it. The Largest piece is the Thigh Boots at 58,000 Polygons. The Bra is
only 18,000. This sounds like a lot, but when you consider the fact that no
3000 x 3000 texture maps are needed it balances the scales. Now you see why
there is no CatSuit. It would simply be too many
polygons.
Nerd3D recommends a Pentium 4 Class system or
better to work with the Chayne Lynx Collection easily. The Chayne has been
tested on Celeron class systems (600 Mhz) and it works fine, it's just a little
slow.
Setting the materials could have been tedious, so
there are 100 MAT-Pose files to help you setup various combinations of colors
on the mesh. Some of the MAT-Poses change the entire mesh, most only effect a
single material group or area. MAT's and textures are included to produce Rust
and Corrosion effects on the mesh. Several of the items have belts or buckles,
they all share a common texture map. A joint pose to reset the bending limits
on Victoria's feet is also included. |

Corset Page |
The
Chayne Corset began life as an experiment. If you look
closely, it's mesh structure is different form the Teddy, Boots and Bikini
pieces. This is called "8's and 4's", (Because it is octagons and squares) The
Oo La La item also uses the 8's and 4's mesh. The experiment turned out so well
It just had to be included in the collection.
The corset is a
SuperConforming figure and will automatically match the morph settings on the
target figure when the morph is available in the corset. The
corset has lots of material groups giving you virtually unlimited texturing
options. |

OoLaLa Page |
The
OoLaLa Is the most unique item in the collection, and
the only one that doesn't include a full set of "holes".
It was
inspired by the Oola character, the exotic dancer in Jabba's Palace. It retains
"Holes" in the Cup and panty area so they can be added back
in.
The OoLaLa could be a futuristic armor piece, a super
heroin's costume, or a costume for an exotic Twi'lek dancer. How will you use
it? |

The Chayne Teddy |
The
Chayne Teddy is the most complex item in the
collection. It has tons of texture groups, and lots of EMC Morphs. The teddy
uses a "Sixes" mesh. The Chayne is mostly hexagons.
The top and
bottom lace, trim nipples, and cups. can all be textures separately. Not to
mention the separate textures for Faces, Edges and Holes.
The
Teddy also features laces up both sides and "Holes" over the entire mesh. |

The Mantle |
The
Mantle is the simplest piece in the collection. It is
also probably the coolest, definitely the most impractical!
It's simple style and graceful flow set this piece apart. The
wide variety of Mat files will make this piece practical beyond impractical
armor. The mantle has several material groups giving you wide
texturing options. It also features morphs that accommodate bending forward and
backward. |

The Mesh Skirt |
The
Chayne Skirt is a daring mini-skirt with lots of belts
and buckles. It's simple and sexy.
As with all the Mesh
Collection it features a Texture group for the "Holes" allowing you to add them
back for style. The Mesh Skirt has several material groups
giving you wide texturing options. It has separate material groups for the
"Panty Area". |

The Mesh Bands |
The
Chayne Collection includes 3 sets of bands. All of them
use buckle closures
The Bands are conforming figures. One for
Fore Arms, Upper Arms (Shoulder) and for the Thighs. All the
bands use the same MAT-Poses and Textures as the rest of the collection. They
are Super Conforming and contain most key Full Body Morphs for the areas they
cover. |

Mesh Boots |
What
would a collection be without foot wear? The Chayne Lynx Collection Includes
2 Pair of boots. Thigh Boots and Shin Boots.
The shin part of the Low boots can be hidden to create ankle
high booties. All the boots feature a collection of morphs to
create wide variety of heel styles. |

Mesh Bikini |
Of
course the collection includes an all new version of one of the most popular
items in Poser history. The Chayne Lynx Bra. Now
Victoria can wear the ultimate Impractical armor piece. The collection also
includes a Bikini bottom.
Creative use of the Included MAT-Pose
files make this impractical armor quite practical as beach wear. Both pieces
include lots of morphs and material groups.
The top and bottom
are provided as separate conforming figures |

The Zapper |
OK,
with all this armor there has just got to be a weapon. Guess what, Chayne is
tired of swords! It looks like Chayne is headed for the the
future where a good zapper is your best friend. Better
stay on her good side.
The zapper includes a conforming holster
and a Smart prop zapper to fit the holster or the hand. |
